San Diego, CA Uber and Lyft Sexual Assault Victim Lawyer
Recent reports have highlighted a scary side to the ride sharing industry – increased reports of crimes being perpetrated by drivers of ride share companies like Uber and Lyft. An article published by CNN found that 103 Uber drivers have been accused of sexual assault or abuse in the past four years. The article looked at cases from major cities across the United States and specifically highlighted a San Diego case involving an intoxicated woman who was raped by a man when she lost consciousness during her ride home. That incident allegedly happened only one block from the woman’s home in El Cajon. The driver was arrested and booked into the San Diego County Jail. In another case local to San Diego, a woman filed a civil lawsuit against Lyft following an alleged rape that occurred in Cardiff, CA in 2016.
According to police in Los Angeles and a story in the Los Angeles Times, the city has dealt with an increase in complaints dealing with sexual predators that pose as an Uber or Lyft driver in order to attack women who are leaving bars and clubs. Los Angeles County prosecutors charged a man with raping seven women while posing as a ride share driver. According to the LA Times article, incidents occurred in Alhambra, Beverly Hills, and West Hollywood in the past two years.
